AQA International to certify recyclers

AQA International has received accreditation to certify recyclers

AQA International, LLC, Columbia, S.C. has received accreditation from ANAB to certify recyclers to the R2 and RIOS Standards. Responsible Recycling (R2) is a set of guidelines for use by electronics recyclers to promote better environmental, health and safety, and security practices when recycling end-of-life electronics. The guidelines cover computers, peripherals, cell phones, and televisions sent to recyclers for proper refurbishment and recycling.

The R2 certification was developed by a group of representatives from electronic recyclers, equipment manufacturers, government representatives, trade associations and public interest groups led by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

The Recycling Industry Operating Standard (RIOS) is a comprehensive integrated quality, environmental, health, and safety system based on ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 and focusing on aspects relevant to the scrap recycling industries. The six components of RIOS cover general requirements, policy, planning, implementation, checking and corrective action, and management.

RIOS was designed by the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI), Washington, D.C. It provides a framework for an integrated management system that includes operational and continual improvement elements for quality, environmental and health and safety performance.

AQA International is an independent accredited third party registrar that can certify to the following standards: ISO 9001, 14001, 13485, 27001, 22000, OHSAS 18001, ISO/TS 16949, AS 9100, 9110, 9120 and e-Stewards.
