What is a CLEI Code?
A CLEI code stands for Common Language Equipment Identification Code. The CLEI Code is specific to a Part Number within (usually) a Central Office equipment product. A CLEI Code is a ten digit/character code that identifies a specific Central Office Telecommunications product. The CLEI Code can identify the part and/or piece of equipment with great certainty. Each CLEI number is attached to a Manufacturer’s part and/or model number. A model can, in fact, have multiple CLEI codes attached to it. Part NT5C22AA, a compact Helios Mini System 500/48, has two unique CLEI (identifier) codes attached to it. One is for the NT5C22AA attached to Nortel and the other for the OEM Astec. The CLEI code is an important piece of data that can be used to find the exact part needed.
